Mini Action Day will celebrate its 25th birthday this year with the original show having taken place on the 26th of September 1992! It’s a significant milestone for Castle Combe then, but also for the show’s biggest supporter, Mini Sport Ltd. The latter have been a fixture of the UK’s Mini community for a full half century now, and can therefore claim to be about as big a part of the Mini story as their special guest, Paddy Hopkirk.
Paddy Hopkirk is something of a living legend, a man whose career will forever be intertwined with the Mini’s colossal success on the rally stages of the world in the 1960s, and he’s therefore a key part of the Mini legend. Paddy’s finest Mini moment took place in 1964, the year the Northern Irishman (along with co-driver Henry Liddon) took his Cooper S to outright victory on the gruelling Monte Carlo rally. His success instantly cemented his position as one of the UK’s finest motorsport talents, and he’d go on to claim an impressive collection of rallying results as the decade wore on.
It’s fitting that Paddy Hopkirk will be attending Mini Action Day as a guest of Mini Sport Ltd, if only for the fact that both share a common interest and association – rallying! Mini Sport Ltd are long-time supporters of the show and have pulled out all the stops in order to celebrate both its 25th anniversary and their own 50th birthday,
Half a century spent catering to the UK’s massive Mini community is most definitely something to shout about, which is why Mini Sport Ltd will be bringing a selection of sensational projects, and will also be running a series of special offers and reductions which simply won’t be found anywhere else.
Factor in the massive club displays, cherished parking, constant on track action, wider trade village, and warm, family friendly vibe, and it’s clear to see why Mini Action Day has grown to become such a key fixture of the Mini calendar. The news that Paddy Hopkirk will be gracing Castle Combe with his presence is very much the icing on the cake, and there can be no better way to mark significant milestones for both the show and Mini Sport Ltd.
